Interrogative Sentence

          Interrogative Sentences can

                      (a)  start with helping verbs.               (b)  start with question words.

              1.  Interrogative sentences starting with  helping verbs are answered using  yes or  no, but

                 sentences starting with question words are answered directly through statements.

              2.  An interrogative sentence always ends in a question mark (?).

                 (a)  (i)  Has the prayer bell rung? (question beginning with a helping verb)

                      (ii)  Do you want to help me? (question beginning with a helping verb)
                 (b)  (i)  What made you laugh so loudly? (question beginning with a question word)


                      (ii)  How are you feeling now? (question beginning with a question word)
                      (iii)  Why have you come so early? (question beginning with a question word)


          Imperative Sentence

            (a)  Imperative sentences make commands, requests, pieces of advice and proposals, but do
                 not start with any subject. The subject you remains unstatssed but can be understood.

            (b)  Affirmative imperative sentences start with the base form of a verb, but negative-imperative
                 sentences start with do not or never.


            (c)  There are no interrogative forms of imperative sentences.
            (d)  Imperative sentences always end with full stop (.).

                  1.   (i)   Do it right now. (Command)

                      (ii)   Never do it again. (Positive negative)

                  2.   (i)   Give me a glass of water. (Request)

                      (ii)   Do not kill the animals. (Positive negative)

                  3.   (i)   Always respect your parents. (Advice)

                      (ii)   Never tell a lie. (Positive negative)

                  4.   (i)   Let us go for a walk. (Proposals)

                      (ii)   Let us not go to the temple. (Positive negative)


          Exclamatory Sentence

            (a)   Exclamatory sentences are spoken under the effect of sudden strong emotions.

            (b)   An exclamatory sentence always ends in an exclamation mark (!).
