1. alter, change
Alter means to change a part of something but change means to replace something.

3. answer, reply
Answer is to a question while reply is to a letter or statement, etc.
(a) Your answer to my question is wrong.
(b) She have sent a reply to my letter.

An artist is one who practises a fine art—poetry, music or painting, etc. But an artisan is
skilled in some craft.
