9 9 Adverbs
Warm-up
Given here are two action words in the boxes. Also, a few more words are given
which tell something about these action words. Write the correct form of the
describing words given in the help box. One in each has been done for you.

An adverb is word that tell us how a thing is done, when it is done or where it is done.
In this chapter, we shall study adverbs of time, place and manner.
Adverbs of Time
Study the following sentences.
1. The doctor came immediately.
2. Radha met me yesterday.
3. We shall go to the movies tomorrow.
The words immediately, yesterday and tomorrow are words of time. They add the
feature of time to their actions. So they are adverbs of time.
