Addition of 3-digit Numbers without Carrying

Let us add 453 and 245.

Step 1: Write the numbers in columns. H T O

Step 2: Add the ones digits: 3 + 5 = 8. 4 5 3

Write 8 in ones column. 6 9 8
Step 3: Add the tens digits: 5 + 4 = 9.

Write 9 in tens column.

Step 4: Add the hundreds digits: 4 + 2 = 6. Write 6 in hundreds column.
