        Objective:


        Understanding 3-digit numbers.

        Materials Required:

        An abacus and coloured beads.                                                         H      T     O

        Procedure:
        1.  The students will work in group of five named as A, B, C, D and E.

        2.  Student A will write a 3-digit number on the board.

        3.  Students B will make that number on the abacus with coloured beads.

             For example, to make 265 on the abacus, put 5 blue beads in the ones rod,
             6 green beads in the tens rod and 2 purple beads in the hundreds rod.

        4.  Student C will make 1 less than 265, that is, 264.

        5.  Student D will make 10 more than 264 that is, 274.

        6.  Student E will make 100 less than 274 that is 174.
