Numbers arranged in a series follow a patt ern. If we fi nd the patt ern in a number series,
we can write the next numbers in the same series.
Let us take a number series
1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, __________, __________, __________,
Here, we see that the next number is two more than the previous number.
So, the next 3 numbers in this number series will be 13, 15 and 17.
Exercise 9B
1 Look for the patt ern and write the next 4 terms of the series in each of the following.
(a) 5, 15, 25, 35 _________, _________, _________, _________
(b) 20, 19, 18, 17 _________, _________, _________, _________
(c) 10, 20, 30, 40 _________, _________, _________, _________
(d) 35, 45, 55, 65 _________, _________, _________, _________
(e) 12, 17, 22, 27 _________, _________, _________, _________
2 Find the patt ern, and fi ll in the empty spaces in each of the following.
(a) 300, 400, _________, 600, _________, 800, 900
(b) 222, 225, _________, 231, _________, 237, 240
(c) 118, _________, 128, 133, _________, 143, 148
Tiling
