2. Determinati on of Impedance of an Inductor
(a) Without soft iron core:
6. Connect the step-down transformer with tapping of (2 V, 4 V, 6 V), an A.C. milliammeter
and inductor coil in series and A.C. voltmeter in parallel with the inductor coil as shown
in the Fig. 1.1(c).
7. Now, repeat the steps 2 and 3 and note the observations. After taking the observations, switch
off the A.C. supply.
(b) With soft iron core:
8. Introduce the given soft iron core in such a way so that the iron core is fully inside the
inductor coil.
9. Now, repeat the steps 2 and 3 and note all the observations.
