Rational Numbers 79
Activity
Objective: To represent a given rational number on a number line.
Pre-Requisite Knowledge: 1. Concept of rational numbers.
2. Concept of a number line.
Materials Required: A ruler, strips of paper, a pencil and an eraser
Preparation for the Activity: Teacher may prepare small strips of paper with any rational number written on it
according to the number of students in the class. Place all the strips in a box and
ask the students to pick any one strip from it and represent the given rational
number on a number line.
Procedure: 1. Pick a strip with a rational number written on it from the box. Let the rational number be −2 .
