        Example 5:  Which is the greatest ratio: 2 : 3,  3 : 5,  4 : 7    Example 6:  Find the value of ‘x’ in the given
                       or  7 : 8?                                                     proportion: 8 : x :: 32 : 40.

                                  2                                    Solution:      8 : x :: 32 : 40
         Solution:          2 : 3 =   = 0.67                                             8    32
                                  3
                                  3                                                   ⇒    =  40
                                                                                          x
                            3 : 5 =   = 0.6                                                   40 × 8
                                  5
                                  4                                                   ⇒  x =    32    = 10
                            4 : 7 =   = 0.57                                                       4
                                  7
                                  7                                                   ⇒  x = 10
                            7 : 8 =   = 0.87
                                  8
                            Hence, 7 : 8 is the greatest ratio.
