Example 2: The cost of a geometry box is ` 50.95. Find the cost of 55 such boxes.
Solution: Cost of 1 geometry box = ` 50.95 5 0 9 5
× 5 5
Cost of 55 such boxes = ` 50.95 × 55 2 5 4 7 5
= ` 2802.25 + 2 5 4 7 5 0
Hence, the cost of 55 boxes is ` 2802.25 2 8 0 2 2 5
Example 3: A small bottle holds 0.845 kg of sauce. How much sauce will be there in 16 such
bottles? 8 4 5
Solution: Capacity of one bottle = 0.845 kg × 1 6
Capacity of 16 such bottles = 0.845 kg × 16 = 13.520 kg + 5 0 7 0

Hence, 16 bottles will have 13.520 kg of sauce. 1 3 5 2 0
Example 4: Mr. Kaushik distributed ` 560 among NCC cadets for refreshment. If each cadet
received ` 8.75, how many cadets were there?
Solution: Total amount distributed = ` 560 6 4
Amount received by each cadet = ` 8.75 875 5 6 0 0 0

Number of cadets = ` 560 = ` 560 × 100 3 5 0 0
875. 875. 100 – 3 5 0 0
56000 ×
= ` = ` 56000 ÷ 875 = 64

Hence, the number of cadets is 64.
