        Objective           :  To  build  the  concept

                              of     2-digit      subtraction
                              without regrouping using
                              abacus.                                              T      O


        Material Required   : An abacus with 2 rods, dice and coloured beads

        Procedure           :   1.  The teacher will divide all the students in pairs.

                               2.  The first student will roll the dice twice and build a number.
                                   For example, 45.

                               3.  The second student will roll the dice twice and build another

                                   number. For example, 22.

                               4.  The students will represent the minuend 45 using coloured
                                   beads on the abacus.

                               5.  In the ones rod, the students will take away 2 beads. They will

                                   then count the remaining beads, that is, 3.

                               6.  In the tens rod, the students will take away 2 beads. They will
                                   then count the remaining beads, that is, 2.

                               7.  The number of beads remaining on the abacus is the result.
