                         THE RISING
THE RISING NUMBER OF ENDANGERED SPECIESNUMBER OF ENDANGERED SPECIES
                (1) An endangered species is a living thing that is on the verge of extinction. Species
become endangered due to two factors: habitat loss and genetic variation loss. Many
endangered animals exist in today’s globe, and they serve vital roles in our environment.
Humans are the primary reason of many animals being on the verge of extinction.
However, with the support of the government and compassionate individuals, some
of these animals have grown in numbers and been removed from the endangered
                     species list.
                (2) Many endangered creatures exist, and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Ninety-nine per cent of the world’s animals have died out. More than a dozen insects,
predominantly butterflies, are on the endangered species list in the United States,
along with over 50 fish species, 100 reptiles and amphibians, and over 300 mammals.
More than 1,000 species are on the verge of extinction around the world, with over
100 of them going extinct every day.

                (3) The below graph shows the rise in the number of endangered species, where the rise
is almost double in number from the year 2007 to 2019. The greatest rise was seen
in the case of water animals (in the graph it is shown under ‘fish’) living in water.
The gradual rise in all kinds of species including mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians,
and even insects has shown an alarming state in their life expectancy rate.
