CYBERCRIME
CYBERCRIME
(1) Cybercrime is not a new phenomenon and anyone who has been working on the
Internet knows about the potential threats cybercrimes pose. Either it is the case
of stealing money from unsuspecting user accounts, online stalking, identity thefts,
online phishing, or data thefts. Cybercrimes have emerged as the most potent threat
adversely affecting the lives of the Internet users. However, this is not the end of it.
(2) Cybercrime is a dangerous attack that can affect a business or a person. There have
been many instances where a cyberattack has resulted in significant financial damage
to a corporation or an entity as a result of a data breach. We live in a technologically
advanced age where computers are now the source of all knowledge.
(3) Cyber criminals also float various infections in the form of viruses, malware, spyware,
ransomware, rootkits, trojans, bugs, worms, etc, on the Internet, so that the security
of user systems can be tested and weakened. As per the reports published in 2015,
around half a billion personal records were either stolen or lost due to the attack of
cyber criminals.
(4) Cyber criminals have understood the fact that every Internet user is a cash cow, if their
security can be broken, and that’s why they are in a constant pursuit of the same. There
has been a tremendous growth in the form of infections released every year. A 125%
increase in new infections per day has been observed. These infections are completely
new for any antivirus programs and, hence, difficult to detect and to eliminate.
(5) On the Internet, every four seconds a new virus is created which can mock your
security easily. This means that more than a million new infections are created daily.
