ACTIVITY 4.7

        OBJECTIVE

To verify that in a circle, angles in the same segments are equal.

        MATERIALS REQUIRED

              Glazed paper Sketch pen
              Adhesive Geometry box

A pair of scissors Tracing paper

        PRE-REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE

          1. Concept of a circle

          2. Concept of angle subtended by a chord/arc

        THEORY

For concepts, refer to Activity 4.6.

        PROCEDURE
          1. Draw a circle of any convenient radius (say 3 cm) and cut it.

          2. Mark the centre O and a point P on the circumference of the circle as shown in Fig. (a).

          3. Mark two more points Q and R on the circumference of the circle.

          4. Fold and press the circle along QR to get a crease which is a chord of a circle.

          5. Join PQ and PR to get ∠QPR as shown in Fig. (b)

                                     P P

                                    O O

                        Q R Q R

                                  Fig. (a) Fig. (b)

          6. Take another colour in glazed paper and cut the circle of same radius.
