          Paragraph Writing

A paragraph is a short passage written with one principal idea or the theme all through it.
All the sentences used in a paragraph revolve around the same theme and convey the same

        message.

A paragraph has the following characteristics.
Language: There must be just one idea in a paragraph. The language of a paragraph
should be simple and easy to understand. Artificiality in language can spoil the message
        of the paragraph.

Sequence and spontaneity: The first sentence usually indicates the main idea of the
paragraph. The sequence denotes the order of sentences. All sentences in a paragraph must
be closely connected with the main topic of the paragraph. They should be close-knit and
        should flow naturally.
Structure of sentences: There must be a clear beginning, middle, and end but all with
just one idea. Well-structured sentences should be written in a paragraph. Short sentences
should be preferred over longer ones.

Variety: Using a monotonous sentence pattern should be avoided in a paragraph. Repetition
of words should also be avoided as far as possible.

                                                      My Hobby
My favourite hobby is playing football in spare time. After completing my homework

at home, I generally spend my free time in playing football. I was very interested to
play football from my childhood. However, I started learning to play well when I was
5 years old. My father asked my class teacher in the PTM about my hobby of football. My
teacher told him that there was a facility of playing sports daily in the school from 2 p.m.
to 3 p.m. and that father could admit me. Now, I really enjoy playing football, and I also

participate in inter-school competitions. Writing Skills

                                               Knowledge is Power
                                               Knowledge is Power
Power which is derived from knowledge is far superior to the power derived from physical
strength. Some people believe that physical strength rules the world, but they are wrong.

They are not aware of the real power, the power that comes from the mind. Mind is called
