Some More Uses of Verbs with Subjects

We use the root form of a verb + -s or -es with singular subjects.
Read the following sentences. Subject–Verb Agreement

 Mrs Pandey teaches us.  She plays hockey.

In the given sentences, the words teaches and plays are singular verbs, so they are used
        with singular subjects.

We use only the root form of a verb with plural subjects.

               Read the following sentences.

 Mrs Joshi and Mrs Pandey teach us.  We buy a bicycle.
                They play cricket.

In the above sentences, the words teach, play and buy are plural verbs, so they are used

        with plural subjects.
                                                                                                                  67
