Full Stop (.)


          We use a full stop:

              •  at the end of a sentence.

                 1.  I study in class 3.

                 2.  Raju is my best friend.


              •  With short forms.

                 1.  I go to school at 7 a.m.

                 2.  Dr. Sharma is a vet.


           Remember

           Nowadays, we do not use a full stop after Mr, Mrs, and Dr  or after short forms of

           countries such as the UK and the USA.


          Comma (,)

          We use a comma:

              •  to separate items in a list of three or more.

                 1.  My favourite fruits are apples, grapes, and mangoes.

                 2.  I would like to visit Lucknow, Mumbai, Jaipur, and Chennai.
              •  to set off a person spoken directly.

                 1.  Why are you so upset, my dear friend?

                 2.  Let us eat, brother.

          Question Mark (?)


          We use a question mark at the end of a question.

                 1.  What is your name?
                 2.  Do you know Mr Anil Sharma?


          Exclamation Mark (!)

          We use an exclamation mark at the end of a sentence that expresses some strong

          feelings.
                 1.  What a lovely flower!

                 2.  How beautiful the girl is!
