              Fill in the blanks with a, an, or the.

          A, an and the are called articles. We use a or an when we mean one of something or
          somebody. We do not use a before plurals.

          A is used before a word that begins with a consonant sound.

          An is used before words that begin with a vowel sound (a, e, i, o, u).

          A and An are called the indefinite articles.

          The means a particular person or thing we are talking about. It is called the definite

          article.


          Use of A, An

            A is used before only countable nouns or words that start with a consonant sound.
