Time in Hours and Minutes for all Positions of Minute Hand
 Note the position of the hour hand. 11 12 1
 Note the position of the minute hand. 10 2
 If minute hand is in the right half, multiply the minute hand 9 3
number by 5 and the time using ‘past’. 8 7 5 4
For example, In the given clock, 6
X hour hand is between 5 and 6. X minutes to read = 4 × 5 = 20.
X minute hand is at 4. (Right half) X Time is 20 minutes past 5 or 5:20.
 If the minute hand is in left half, count how many major divisions are left for
minute hand to reach 12. Multiply these major divisions by 5 and read the time
using ‘to’.
In the given clock, 10 11 12 1 2
X Hour hand is between 6 and 7. 9 3
X Minute hand is at 8. (Left half) 8 7 5 4
X There are 4 major divisions left for minute hand to reach 12. 6
So, minutes to read = 4 × 5 = 20.
X Time is 20 minutes to 7 or 6:40.
