                                                    Exercise 8.2


          1.  Find the marked price, if.

             (i)  S.P. = ` 1880  and  Discount = 6%           (ii)  S.P. = ` 2392  and  Discount = 8%
          2.  Find the selling price, if.
             (i)  M.P. = ` 850 and Discount = 5%              (ii)  M.P. = ` 1550 and Discount = 8%

          3.  Find discount in per cent when.
             (i)  M.P. = ` 800  and  S.P. = ` 750             (ii)  M.P. = ` 950  and  S.P. = ` 760

          4.  A cycle dealer marks a cycle with a price which is 20% more than the cost price. He allows a discount
            of 10% on it. Find the gain per cent.
          5.  A dealer buys an article for ` 375. At what price must he mark it so that after allowing a discount of
            10%, he still makes a profit of 20%.
          6.  At a clearance sale, all goods are on sale at 35% discount. If I buy a shirt marked ` 500, find the amount
            I need to pay.
          7.  After allowing a discount of 15% on an article, a shopkeeper gains a profit of 25%. What does he gain
            for an article whose marked price is ` 800?
          8.  Find the single discount equivalent to two successive discounts of 25% and 10%.
          9.  Find a single discount that is equivalent to two successive discounts of 10% and 8%.
          10. After allowing two successive discounts of 20% and 5%, a DVD player is sold for ` 3420. Find the
            marked price of the DVD player.


        TAX
        Have you ever thought of, where the government  gets money to build roads, railways, health  centres  and
        education institutions? The government collect money from us in the form of various taxes. Generally, the taxes
        are of two types.
             (i)  Direct tax : Direct tax is collected in the form of income tax, wealth tax, etc.
            (ii)  Indirect tax : It is collected in the form of GST (Goods and Service Tax).

        GST (Goods and Service Tax)
        GST is imposed on goods and services which increases the MRP of product           Absorbing Facts
        and services. GST replaced the multiple indirect taxes like excise duty, VAT,   GST  tax  act  came  into
        entertainment tax, etc. GST has replaces almost 17 different types of taxes. GST   existence  w.e.f. 1st July 2017
        is one indirect tax for the entire country.


              Let’s Attempt

        Example 1:  Sunita paid ` 13.75 as GST on a bottle of shampoo worth ` 125. Find the rate of GST.

        Solution:      GST on ` 125 = ` 13.75

                                         13 75.          1375
                       GST on ` 100 = `        × 100  = `      = ` 11 GST
                                          125              125
                       Rate of GST = 11%.
