Comparing Quantities 101
Activity
Objective: To learn and understand the concept of percentage.
Pre-Requisite Knowledge: 1. Concept of per cent.
2. Concept of fraction.
Materials Required: A 10 × 10 grid, crayons, a pencil and an eraser
Procedure: 1. Take a 10 × 10 grid and choose a number to be represented as percentage. Let it be 25%.
2. Colour 25 squares of the grid in any pattern as shown in Figure.
3. This represents 25 of 100, i.e., 25% .
4. Similarly, represent 75%, 20%, 63% and 15% on 10 × 10 grids and record your observations.
