          2. Convert each of the following fractions into percentage.

                    35 1 8 1
              (a) (b) 5 (c) (d)
                    40 4 25 4

                     7 3 38 18
              (e) (f) 2 (g) (h)
                   100 10 100 100

        Converting Decimal into Percentage

To convert a decimal into percentage, we write the given decimal as a fraction and then multiply
by 100. We put % symbol in the answer.

        Let’s learn through examples.

              Let’s Attempt

Example: Convert the following decimals into percentage.
                        (a) 0.8 (b) 0.35

                                    8 100 35
        Solution: (a) 0.8 = × (b) 0.35 =
                                   10 100 100

                                   = 80% 35 100 35%
                                                                    100 100

                             Thus, 0.8 = 80% Thus, 0.35 = 35%

        Converting Percentage into Decimal

To convert a percentage into decimal, we remove the % symbol and divide the number by 100
and then write the fraction in decimal form.
        Let’s learn through examples.

              Let’s Attempt

Example: Express the following percentage as a decimal number.

                        (a) 65% (b) 5.7%

        Solution: (a) 65% = 65 = 0.65 (b) 5.7% = 57. = 57 = 0.057
                                    100 100 1000
