Interlinked Nature of Social Issues Across SDGs
Social issues are concerns in society that people want to change. They can be based on different views of what’s
right or wrong. In general, it arises due to diverse opinions of individuals based on what is perceived as right. As
you know, the nature of social issues is complex which means that you will get nothing if you try to solve one
issue without understanding the interlinkage relationship exists with another issue.
Let us understand some social issues with the help of sustainable development goals. According to SDG1,
eradicating poverty across the world has an interlinkage relationship with SDG2, SDG3 and SDG4 because poverty
leads to many other social problems such as lack of food, education and health. Thus, without addressing poverty,
we cannot address other issues like hunger and impart quality education among the people.
The interlinkage relationship between SDGs are crucially important as it can be positive and negative both. In a
nutshell, the sustainable development agenda cannot be achieved without addressing the issue of interlinked
relationships.
