              Systematic Position

Phylum – Protozoa Class – Sporozoa
Type – Plasmodium vivax Common name – Malarial parasite

              A. Comments
                    1. It is the slide of Plasmodium, a protozoan which is found in red blood cells of human.
                    2. The infection of this endoparasite causes malaria.
The symptoms of this disease are—
                   (a) The person shows rapidly rising body temperature up to 103–105°F, before which the patient
shivers and feels chill, has intense headache, nausea, muscular pain, etc.

                   (b) The fever subsides with sweating, body temperature is 98.4°F.
                   (c) It is a cyclic fever and it repeats after few hours till it is treated/cured. Each malarial cyclic
attack lasts for 6–10 hours. It has 3 stages:
                        (i) Cold stage (ii) Hot stage (iii) Sweating stage.

              Kingdom – Fungi

              Class – Deuteromycetes
              Type – Trichophyton rubrum

              Common name – Ringworm

                                                                                             Fig. 13.4: Ringworm

              Systematic Position
              1. It is the slide of ringworm.
              2. It is the ectoparasite of human skin.
              3. The infection of this ectoparasite causes a particular type of symptoms on skin.

The symptoms of the disease are—
                   (a) The infected skin area is itchy, red, raised, and has scaly patches with clearly defi ned edges.
                   (b) A red colour ring appears on the periphery.

It spreads by direct skin contact of an infected person and sharing objects–towels, hair brush, etc. and
                  from infected pets.
