                                                    EXPERIMENT 7

          Objective
          To study and identify stages of gamete development through permanent slide of T.S. of ovary and T.S.
          of testis.


          Principle/Theory
          Gametogenesis means the genesis/formation/production of gametes. It takes place in gonads: Testis and
          Ovary. The formation of sperms (male gametes) in testis of an animal is called spermatogenesis. The
          formation of ovary (female gametes) in ovary is called oogenesis. This takes place due to meiosis.
          The diff erent steps of gametogenesis in the gonads can be done by T.S. of ovary and testis. The permanent
          slides are used for study.


          Materials Required
          Permanent slides and compound microscope

          Procedure
           1.  Observe the slide over compound microscope.

           2.  Compare the comments mentioned.
           3.  Draw the diagram in your record fi le and write comments for each spot.
