Countable Nouns


          A countable noun may name one thing or more than one thing.


          Here are some examples.


                  cup         -    one                                    cups            -     many


                  yak         -    one                                    yaks            -     many


                  man         -    one                                    men             -     many



                  bush        -    one                                    bushes          -     many



          Rules for making plurals


          Rule 1:  We add s to some nouns to make them mean more than one. We

                       have added s to the cat and the girl to make them mean more

                       than one.
















                       cat                     cats                    girl                    girls


          Rule 2:  We add es to some nouns to make them mean more than one. We


                       have added es to tomato and mango to make them mean more

                       than one.












                    tomato                 tomatoes                  mango                 mangoes
