KEY LEARNING
• Drawing represents a commitment to letting go: It can be liberating to express yourself
through art. A person is likely to feel positivity and relief after drawing the picture.
• Drawing is therapeutic: Sometimes, when we are not ready to use words, drawing and painting
can prove to be therapeutic. Research has shown that art therapy helps those with anxiety,
depression, and inability to express themselves, especially children and adolescents.

A FEW TOOLS & TECHNIQUES
Here are some tools and techniques for practicing the art of letting go:
1. Learn from the past, but don’t dwell on it. Dwelling on the past and brooding too much reinforces
the sadness and negativity in the mind.
2. Expressing yourself openly to someone you trust helps vent out the heaviness caused by the
sad experience. If it is not possible to do so, you can pen down your emotions in a journal. In
principle, it works the same way.
