A FEW TOOLS & TECHNIQUES
There are many little ways that one can practice in their day-to-day life to achieve gender
sensitisation and understand the diverse perspectives on gender equality. A few of them have
been given below:
1. Take the initiative to educate yourself about the widespread gender issues including the
stereotypes, biases, and the experiences that any gender has to go through on an everyday basis.
When you have the right knowledge and understanding about the traditional gender stereotypes,
you can actively work to overcome them.
2. Once you are aware of the unique challenges that each gender has to face, and you are open to
learning, you should participate in open and respectful discussions about gender-related topics
with friends, family, and peers.
3. Be attentive and mindful of the language you use because it might hurt others’ sentiments and
beliefs. Try to use inclusive and non-discriminatory words that help to lead the discussion in the
right direction such as bringing more awareness among people in the society.
4. Whenever you witness any discriminatory behaviour against any gender in the form of unacceptable
actions or comments, stand up against it and fight for equality. Seek help and support of like-
minded people for more encouragement, support, and confidence, if needed.
5. There is a great need for all genders to develop empathy and understanding about their gender
counterparts. Being able to understand the concerns and offer support to others irrespective of
their caste, gender, ethnicity, or creed is what makes us good human beings.
