KEY LEARNING

                  • Negative self-talk: A big reason for low self-confidence is the negative things we say to ourselves
in our heads, such as, ‘everyone else is better than me’, ‘this task is too difficult for me to
finish’, ‘I will never be able to do well in Math’, ‘I am not smart enough to get selected for this
                   performance’, and so on.

                  • Comparing with others: Rather than focussing on ourselves and our uniqueness, we tend to
compare ourselves with others and belittle what we have.

                  • Dealing with peer and parental pressure: We are always pushed to be in a mode of competition
with others. This happens because parents want to drive their children to achieve as much as
possible. But the fact is that each child is different and should not be forced to be like or be
                   better than others.

                                            A FEW TOOLS & TECHNIQUES

In life, we often come across situations where we feel overwhelmed and lose confidence. Our
negative thoughts tend to overpower us, thus stopping us from moving forward. In such
situations, remembering the following points can really change your mindset:
            1. Believe in yourself and your strengths and capabilities. They help you take more positive steps to
               build a sense of achievement.

            2. Practice positive self-talk and affirmations in front of the mirror. This will instantly make you
               feel better about yourself.

            3. Consider the challenges that you face as opportunities for growth and learn from your failures.
Improve upon your weaknesses through dedication and effort.
            4. Practice relaxation techniques to manage stress and anxiety and have an overall positive outlook
               towards life.

“To be a great champion you must believe you are the best.
If you are not, pretend you are.”
