Who has less balls?

Jyoti 7 balls Deepa 5 balls

Deepa has 2 balls less than Jyoti.

So, 5 is smaller than 7.

Less means fewer. We use ‘<’ sign to denote less number of objects and
read it as ‘less than’.

Here, 2 balls are less than 5 balls. 5 balls are less than 9 balls.

So, 2 < 5 or 2 is less than 5. So, 5 < 9 or 5 is less than 9.

Equal

=

There are 6 green balls and 6 blue balls. Since, they are same in number,
we write 6 = 6.

The sign ‘=’ denotes the same number of objects or things on both sides

of it. It is read as ‘equal to’.
