Researchers from IIT Mumbai have found chemicals from plastic bags

and PVC items thrown into the Indian Ocean which have severely

affected the aquatic life. Prochlorococcus, the earth’s most abundant

oxygen-producing organism, has witnessed the worst impact. It is a

man-made problem which is putting the entire human kind into danger.

The recent discovery of a plastic bag at about 10,000 metres below the

sea level speaks about the gravity of the problem. One professor and

seven students of the research team have presented a report to the

Ministry of Environment, Government of India.
