A sentence always begins with a capital letter and ends with a full stop (.) or

        (?) or (!).

        Structure of a sentence: Subject + verb + (object/complement).

        sentence using capital letters and full stops at appropriate places.

          Let’s Learn Subject and Predicate


        The subject and the predicate are the two main parts of a sentence.


        The subject of a sentence is the person or thing that performs the action of
        the verb.


        The predicate of a sentence is the part which tells what the subject does.


        Read the following sentences.


            l   Rihan                   flies a kite.
               Subject                   Predicate



            l   The dog            runs after the cat.
               Subject                   Predicate


        The words Rihan and the dog are the subjects in the sentences.                                            The Sentence

        The groups of words flies a kite and runs after the cat are the predicates in

        the sentences. A predicate has a verb.
