19 Inspiring Legends
Some people become famous for their unique talent or contribution and become a source of inspiration
and motivation.
Read the descriptions and write the names of the following legends using the Help Box.
1 Known as “the Mother Teresa of Economics”, he is an Indian
Economist and professor of Philosophy and Economics at
Harvard University. He formerly served as Master of Trinity
College at the University of Cambridge. He is the winner of the
Nobel Prize (1998) and the Bharat Ratna (1999).
2 As a kid, he began exploring filmmaking. He later went on to become
an extremely successful and Oscar-winning filmmaker, producer,
and screenwriter.
3 A British astrophysicist, regarded as the greatest physicist since
Einstein, crippled due to a degenerative nerve disease. He could
only communicate through a computer attached to his motorised
wheelchair.
4 At the age of 16, she became the youngest Indian sprinter to compete
in the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Her fourth position in 400 metres
hurdles at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics is by far the closest
an Indian female athlete has come to an Olympic medal on the track.
5 The first black President of South Africa, he was imprisoned for 27
years for fighting apartheid. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna (1990)
and the Nobel Prize (1993).
