V. Use the scenario given below to write a short story in 100–120 words. Give the story
a suitable title. Try to make the story interesting by adding dialogues and describing
characters and events.
Scenario: a girl finds a little puppy and takes it home, but its real owner is looking for it
Beginning: the girl finds the puppy and decides to take it home
Middle: the girl and the puppy become good friends
End: the owner finds out about the puppy and wants to take it back
VI. Write a short story in 100–120 words based on the following outline. Give a suitable title.
Outline: Persia was ruled by Darius. His only son, Zubaid, became gravely ill. The king
was concerned—he called all the physicians—he tried every medication—he didn’t get
better—he gave up all hope—Zubaid was certain to die—he gave alms—Darius walked
seven times around Zubaid’s room—prayed to God—“save my son and take my life
instead” Zubaid recovered after a few weeks and Darius died.
VII. Aniket decided to write a story, but after some time, he could not complete the story as
he had lost interest. Complete his story in 100–120 words on the basis of the beginning
given below.
“Once upon a time, a Lion, the king of the forest, was celebrating his son’s birthday.
All the animals and birds of the forest were to participate in the grand function….”
VIII. An eminent bacteriologist, Dr Hargobind Narula went to the tropical rainforest of South
America to study some new strains of disease-causing bacteria. There, while carrying out
his explorations, he came across a remote uninhabited area and set up his camp there.
A few months later, he wrote to his friend. Given below is an excerpt from his letter.
Write a short story based on it, in 100–120 words.
“You are aware that around the country only some parts of Amazon are still partially
explored. I had an occasion to spend a night at a small village at a point where a
certain tributary—the name and position of which I withhold opens into the main
river. There perched on a tree I saw a dimorphodon or pterodactyl, a flying reptile of
the Jurassic period.”
