        Using an Abacus

Numbers from 10 onwards have two digits each. One digit is in the ones place and
the other digit is in the tens place.

We can represent the numbers using an abacus. An Rod 2 Rod 1
                                                                                                            (Ones)
                                                                                     (Tens)
abacus has rods. Rod 1 is the ones rod. Rod 2 is the tens
rod. A maximum of 9 beads can be used in each rod.

Tens and ones can also be represented as 'T' and 'O' on the rods.

T O For example, 13 has 1 ten and 3 ones. See, how it is shown on
            1 3 an abacus.

Count and write the number of beads on each rod of the abacus.

                 T O T O T O T O

Draw beads on the abacus to show these numbers.
