For rectangle R: Length = (12 + 12 + 6) cm
= 30 cm
Breadth = 6 cm
Area of rectangle P = Length × Breadth
= 12 cm × 6 cm = 72 cm 2
Area of rectangle Q = Length × Breadth
= 12 cm × 6 cm = 72 cm 2
Area of rectangle R = Length × Breadth = 30 cm × 6 cm = 180 cm 2
Area of the figure = 72 cm + 72 cm + 180 cm = 324 cm .

Volume
The measure of the amount of space occupied by a solid figure is called its volume.
Cubes, cuboids, cylinders, cones, spheres, etc. are solid figures and thus they possess volume.
Units of Volume
The standard unit of measurement of volume is cubic metre or cubic centimetre. In daily life,
we measure the volume in cubic centimetre.
