Knowledge Discovery Subject Enrichment
Pen drives and memory cards use circuit-based flash technology to store data. Flash
memory reads and writes data at a very high speeds. They can retain data in absence of
electric current.
TERTIARY STORAGE DEVICES
A Tertiary Storage device is a high-capacity data storage device. Tertiary storage
devices store data which is used to review or restore data after a system breakdown.
These devices are typically used for archiving and backing up enormous amounts of
data. Let us learn about some of the common tertiary storage devices.
Magnetic Tape
A magnetic tape is made of a long ribbon of plastic which has been coated with a
magnetic material. Magnetic signals are used to record data on tape. To access the
magnetic tape, a tape drive is used. It is used to store audio and video files.
Network Attached Storage (NAS)
